Apple promises to fix problems with external monitors in the M1 Macs
In an upcoming update of macOS Big Sur, it will be possible to select more resolutions on connected screens.
One of the most notable problems with this autumn’s new Macs with the M1 chip is that far from all resolutions are available for connected screens, which can be a problem for users.
Fortunately, Apple has announced that the issue will be fixed in an upcoming macOS Big Sur update. The fix will likely arrive in version 11.2, which is currently being beta tested and which will be released in a final version at the beginning of 2021.
If you want to see all available resolutions for your connected screen, you can go to System Settings > Monitors and then select the Scaled option.
